britt+matt save the date

Brittany is one of my besties and my girl is getting married! It’s so exciting and I’m honored to be able to be a part of the big day by designing her Save the Dates and Invitations (and as a bridesmaid, holla! ha). Britt and Matt are so special and inspiring to me and those around them. They have such BIG HEARTS for others (locally and around the world). Side note, Matt is actually the one that asked me to go to Australia and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. So, thanks Matt. :) Before heading back to the states, Britt, Matt and I took a roadtrip to Byron Bay (the best hippie town ever). It was so fun and after a day on the beach I snapped the pics we used on the postcard.

The wedding itself is going to be quite beautiful… a true DIY wedding. Britt is uber creative and is spending time thrifting and making many of the decorations and key elements for the ceremony. They are tying the knot at the wedding chapel of their home church, Casas Church, in Tucson, Arizona. Without spoiling the details, all I can say it’s going to be magical!!

BMG-Inspiration

Do you ever get inspired at the most random moments? Well, I was at Goodwill and came across this vintage tablecloth (pictured above) and suddenly knew the direction I wanted to go… I loved the colors, the detailing on the trim and it’s overall handmade feel. And yes, of course I purchased the tablecloth…for Britt to use if she so desires (justification). I also was inspired by the great color palette, feminine ruffles and vintage/retro pattern of this fun dress from Shabby Apple. . I discovered the online boutique from my other “bride friend.”

I tried to keep the Save the Date fun and casual, especially because it was a postcard… mixing in cut-out lettering, lace, and lots of textures to give it that aged-vintage feel.

Okay, I know this post is long… I generally am not one for many words, BUT I have a funny story to share and then I am done. So when I sent Britt the proof, I labeled the file “BMG_STD” which is short for “Brittany Miree Gelatt Save the Date.” I never thought twice about the STD abbreviation as today everyone is always shorting phrases…lol, brb. Well anyway, Britt got to work early one day (at her new job) and was checking her email and opened the proof. When it was time for training at her computer she just minimized the file, so for the next hour the woman training her saw “BMG_STD.”  It looked like Britt was researching some rare STD or something. haha! I love it! Awkward moments are the best… if they don’t happen to me. Oh, and to clarify Brittany does NOT have an STD. :)

Have a fab day!
