Love Bird Bridal Shower
I got a little busy and just realized I owe everyone the second DIY tutorial from the Lovebird Bridal Shower. This project is soooo limitless! You can create silhouettes of ANYTHING and can select something that will match your particular style. Just think…letters, words, pretty flowers, etc.

This project requires bit more prep work that the Fabric Flower Collage DIY. Just have a little crafternoon and make them both! :)

Materials

  • Glue Gun
  • Adhesive Spray
  • Scrap Fabric
  • Photo Frames (glass not needed)
  • Cardstock or thin Cardboard
  • Scissors

STEP ONE: Select the image you want to create into a silhouette.  For this project I used the lovebirds from the Thank You cards. I originally got the image from a vintage “Twelve Days of Christmas” book. Yep, those are in fact “Two Turtledoves.”

STEP TWO: If using a design program, isolate the image and adjust coloring to grayscale and print. You can also make a photocopy of the image from another source and increase to the size you desire.

STEP THREE: Now gather the rest of your materials: scrap fabric, frame (mine was thrifted and then painted) and craft supplies.

STEP TWO: Iron the fabric you’re going to be using for both the silhouette and mat. This will make it lay extra smooth.

STEP THREE: Cut the mat fabric to fit the frame, leaving about 1/4 inch on each side. I selected a sheet of cardstock for the mat backing- allowing it to be lightweight and less bulky. Use adhesive glue spray on the cardstock and lay over the fabric. Fold over back edges and glue.

STEP FOUR: Place the fabric of your choice over the printed image. (My printer was low on ink, hence the purple. oops!) The image should be as dark as possible to be able to see through the fabric. Also, using a lighter fabric helps. :)

STEP FIVE: Trace the image and cut it out. The more detailed an image, the more precise of a cutter you have to be. I had to whip out an exacto knife for the bird’s legs.

STEP SIX: Now spray the adhesive glue to the back of the image and place on the mat. You’re done!
