Dress Experiment | Look #1

So… here’s the start of a fun little experiment inspired by The Uniform Project and New Dress a Day Blog. Since my youth I have had an (unhealthy) tenancy for not repeating outfits or at least maintaining a “proper cycle.” Don’t judge, the outfit journal is YEARS gone. I wish I was kidding. Anyways…here’s to repeating an outfit…kinda.

BACKGROUND: I just mentioned how one of my small group girls recently gave me bags of fabric, including a few dresses her grandmother had made and never finished.  Well, I intended to eventually alter this particular dress by taking it up and in… I have been house-sitting and didn’t pack enough clothes for the week and decided to go for the dress. I was kinda sleepy and didn’t have the patience to start a sewing project at midnight for the next day. Instead I played around with a couple belts and quickly came up with a couple styles that didn’t require sewing. Over the next month I’ll share the different styles as I wear the dress. I will soon be posting a pic of the dress in it’s “original form.”

LOOK #1: The dress goes down to the floor so wore a belt on my hips and tucked the bottom hem into the belt to give the the appearance of a bubble hem. I still wore the second belt around my waist as the dress it too wide and plus, I have a habit of belting most outfits.
