Julianne Jade's Nursery

As I have shared, I am soon to be an aunt and I would like to take this moment to brag on my sister (Justina) and showcase her design skills. The baby nursery she put together is adorable and she did it for pennies…under $250!! She thrifted and yard saled many of the items and with a simple paint job, the pieces were transformed.

Enjoy the little peek!

A theme throughout Justina’s home is the use of plate collages and the nursery was not without.

These blankets were given to her, along with the crib (which she painted).

Dave, the daddy-to-be, picked out this teddy bear. He was searching for one that was smiling… you’d be surprised how many stuffed animals look sad.

I had these lanterns from my old room and they make the perfect life-size mobile for above the crib. Justina’s going to spruce them up with some color and tie fabric strips on the bottom of each.

You may remember my Fabric Flower DIY project… in the room she incorporated a couple pieces that I had made.

Unused shelving units were placed in the closet and the doors removed for open storage.

These hat boxes are so darling. I love the print.

The rocking chair belonged to our great-grandmother. It’s a wonderful way to bring in a family heirloom and keepsake.

All of the bedding (with the exception of the bumper) was made as a gift. Justina picked out several different new fabrics that were combined with a vintage collection.

This dresser was painted and turned into a changing table. One of the DIY crafts Justina made for the room was this shadow box collage. I had found the handmade Barbie dresses at a Barn Sale in Michigan. Justina painted the boxes and added a craft paper backing. They turned out adorable and helped tie in all the colors.

The splurge items for the room were the shadow boxes, wicker chest and the rug, but they were wore spending a bit more to give that extra dose of character and really complete it the room. Since taking these pics last week, she’s already done more nesting, incorporating shower gifts…and more plates. :)

I hope you enjoyed the tour… just wait til I share the rest of her house. There’s not as much pink, but it’s equally as wonderful!

Have a great weekend!!
