Inspiration Board

Need of inspiration? Sometimes you need to get some great visuals for projects or just life. I took the extra plywood from the desk I made and put together a little spot for inspiration. Just clipped and taped up images I love. I’ll just add and remove images as I need to keep it fresh.

Room

I’ve mentioned before that I live and work in one room… it’s my bedroom/studio. Here’s a peek at where the magic happens. And by magic I mean lots of coffee consumption, beautiful music playing and me sitting at my computer.

DIY | Paint Sample Garland

MATERIALS
-Yarn, String or Rope
-Paint Sample Sheets
-Scissors
-Glue

DIY | Paint Sample Garland

ONE// Collect the samples from your local hardware store… Home Depot’s color selection is fab!

DIY | Paint Sample Garland

TWO// Cut the sample sheets into triangles of all sizes

THREE// Cut the the yarn to the desired length

FOUR// Put the glue about a 1/4 inch down so you can’t see the yarn poking out over the top. I spaced the cut outs about 1 inch apart.

Now hang! Great for party decor or just to add a little fun to a space. Cheap and colorful! Enjoy!

This is just because… don’t ya love the color scheme for the kitchen? I like.

Baby McGuffey Thank You Cards

One of my besties is about to have her first baby!! So exciting!! Her and her hubby are creating the cutest nursery and bought the Brooke Bedding Set from Pottery Barn Kids. Adorable!! Love all the patterns and fabrics! She asked me to create some thank you cards inspired by the design and this is what I came up with. You may recall the baby announcements I did for them earlier this year.

I love, love, love Dan & Heather and can’t wait to meet their little one!!! Nine more weeks!! :)

Home Sweet Home

I’ve been in the process of setting up my “studio meets bedroom.” I’m the kind of person that will stay up all night for week to get settled, but I’ve had other projects keepin me busy. I have made progress though… I mean I’m no longer sleeping on the floor… I got a cute futon couch this week.

I’ll be posting some of the little details and projects as I complete them, so stay tuned. I got all the thread from an estate sale here in Tucson, the clock at Savers (thrift store), my vintage luggage collection (made the trek from DC) and one of the chairs I am refinishing.

Right now on the “must do soon list” are:

-Paint Desk/Work Table

-Paint & Reupholster chairs

-Sew Pillows

-Hang Shelves

Wall Collage Experiment

One thing I love doing for gifts is 1) Make something (duh! ha!) and 2) Have it be a more of an “everyday/practical item.” Cute scrapbook keepsake are a great option, but often find their way to a box, tucked away on a bookshelf or at the bottom of drawer… let’s be honest.

A month or so ago I decided to make a piece of art for my friend, Jessica, as she was about to get married and move into her new home.  “Setting up shop” in a new place can be overwhelming and there is the need to make everything look pretty and get organized quick. Having art to hang on the walls typically isn’t on your normal wedding registry, so I thought this would be the perfect fit. (more…)

Love Bird Bridal Shower

Love Bird Bridal Shower

Nothing like a couple lovebirds to celebrate a marriage. It’s an easy eclectic look for any event… especially on a tight budget. Most of the decor items are or thrifted or handmade (DIY tutorials coming later this week), though I got the ceramic birds on clearance at Michael’s. And yes, you can see the yarn daisies made from a flower loom I mentioned in my “Flower Power” post. I also designed custom thank you card stationery for the bride, a matching layout for the CD Mix favor and of course, cupcake toppers. Be sure to check out all the pics! (more…)
