Love Bird Bridal Shower

As promised, here is the first of two DIY tutorials from the Lovebird Bridal Shower. This is a simple projects and a great way to use up scrap material. In prepping for decorating the shower, I put these floral collages together the morning of. Depending on the size and quantity of the collages you create, it can anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.

Materials

  • Glue Gun
  • Adhesive Spray
  • Scrap Fabric
  • Photo Frames (glass not needed)
  • Cardstock or thin Cardboard
  • Scissors

STEP ONE: Gather your materials: scrap fabric, frame (mine was thrifted and then painted) and craft supplies.

STEP TWO: Iron the fabric you’re going to be using at the mat so it lays extra smooth. I selected a sheet of cardstock- keeping it less bulky and lightweight.

STEP THREE: Cut the fabric to fit the frame, leaving about 1/4 inch on each side. Use adhesive glue spray on the cardstock and lay over the fabric. Fold over back edges and glue.

STEP FOUR: Cut out circles in a variety of sizes. I folded the fabric several times to produce more circles with each cut. These do not have to be perfectly round- imperfections welcome.

STEP FIVE: To create the fabric rosettes, select to circles (larger and smaller sizes) and glue together.

STEP SIX: Next fold the circle in half twice. Apply hot glue to the center and place on the mat. As you apply, squeeze and twist the fabric. Repeat until you cover the mat. Simple as that!

You can align the flowers in exact rows, but I chose a more abstract approach. Now you can use the collage for a centerpiece or hang on the wall. I think this one in particular would look uber cute in a bathroom. Enjoy!!
