Oh my! I am firm believer that you must be able to laugh at yourself! We all do stupid things sometimes and taking yourself too seriously is no fun! Well, that being said, I am a FOOL!

Last week I read a devotional and it really suck with me…the excerpt below in particular.

Consecration is the act of continually separating myself from everything except that which God has appointed me to do. It is not a one-time experience but an ongoing process. Am I continually separating myself and looking to God everyday of my life?

The problem?!?! I totally read consecration as concentration, yeah... I am a smarty!! Consecration isn’t a word we often use and maybe you’ve never even heard it. Let me tell you, it makes a world of a difference when the passage reads in context.

I initially walked away challenged to concentrate. As a creative, my mind wanders all over. I am a dreamer and a visionary. I have notebooks full new design concepts and noteworthy ideas. Some days I try to balance way too much and take on more than I can handle… because well, they are all exciting projects. I often just start “doing” and not always first seeking out what I am “called” to do… hence my desire to focus and concentrate on what is before me each day. It’s that daily check… why I am doing what I am doing and have I sought God in this.

So yes, concentrating on what I am called to doing great. Though, it’s an act of my own accord. It’s focusing my undivided attention on a task and not cluttering my mind with other thoughts or ideas. Concentration is healthy and needed to achieve my goals.

Consecration however, is much more. It’s a surrender and commitment to a higher purpose, not of my own. It’s the daily obedience in my current circumstance and trusting God’s (often unknown) plan for provision. It’s following, not leading.

I am “planted” right here, right now for a purpose.

This oversized blouse has been in my closet for years… in the past I’ve belted it but today I tied the front, adding a layering option with the bright pink tank. I do love the tribal vibe of this top and I am sure there are countless others just like it at you neighborhood thrift store! Annnd yes, my hair is in need of some major lovin (pretend you don’t notice my roots)…. I am thinking of going for a warm milk-chocolate brown?!? It just seems like so much work because black is so hard to remove from my hair. haha.

Chocolate! You know that fifth food group that often can make a good day, great?!?

I am excited to share a behind the scenes look at the Chocolate Industry and all the social injustice issues involved. Julia’s Poppies and my good friends at Making Noise, Inc. have teamed up to launch the Sweet Freedom Campaign. We believe our collective voices can make a difference against social injustice.

The Sweet Freedom Campaign is a social media, community driven movement to help educate about the issue of human trafficking and child labor on cocoa farms in West Africa, and to provide tangible means of fighting the issue by addressing demand.

If you’re not familiar with the human trafficking and child labor issues, I would highly encourage you to take a moment and educate yourself. I will be sharing more facts and how you can get involved here on the blog.

I cannot believe it has almost been one year since my niece was born! Time flies I tell ya! We’re having a small little family gathering this weekend to celebrate. I took some photos of Julianne last week…she’s still cute as ever and her hair continues to GROW! I love the little french braid.
