A couple of weeks ago our stationery was featured on Green Wedding Shoes in a BEAUTIFUL styled shoot! I loved working with Jessica Sloane of lovebird style and Brooke Boling Photography! They nailed this concept!! Jessica was actually a client of mine back when she was planning her own wedding. I just think it’s so neat how we’re still able to collaborate!

I am attempting to take a fresh approach in terms of styling (and maybe some altering) to items that have been in my closet for years. Nutella + Bananas + Strawberries

Yesterday I had this treat for an afternoon snack. My sister had made herself one and once I smelled the Nutella it caused an immediate finger in jar reflex…shhhh.

I high recommend whipping one of these bad-boys up if your craving something sweet. All you have to do is:

Toast a whole wheat pita.
Generously spread on Nutella.
Cut up some fresh fruit and arrange on top.
Eat as an open-face sandwich…so it lasts longer.

Yes, last week I went to Florida for a work trip. Allie and I worked on our new line of wedding stationery and showcased a handful of designs at the Orlando NotWedding. It was a grrrrreat trip, but blogging did not happen. That’s okay. These are the pics I took on my drive down… intended for last week’s Wardrobe Wednesday. I loved the old school building along a country road in Florida…it reminds me of the southwest. I’ll share more details about my trip soon.

I am usually a “heels girls” but moccasins make it very hard not to wear comfy shoes everyday! The best Christmas gift- thanks parents! :)

Annnnd t’s that time of year again, the rose-bush is in bloom…so beautiful! There is something about flowering bushes and trees that just make me smile.

If you’re a “regular” you’re probably aware of the Sweet Freedom Campaign and our desire to spread awareness for the child labor and human trafficking on the cocoa farms of West Africa. This campaign is a collaborative effort with Making Noise, Inc.

We’re using our skills and passions to be voice for those without…utilizing what we already have been given not just “for a cause” but rather to make a DIFFERENCE. A couple of weeks ago that happened in a big way. An evening was put together to not only educate, but experience-food. Good food! The was menu inspired by the campaign and incorporated fair trade chocolate into each dish. Remember those Chocolate Almond Grapes I shared last week?!? Chef Jason Jimenez held nothing back and that was just a glimpse of the dinner.

We filled a table with some pretty cool folks and shared a meal together. It’s the simple things that inspire. Without further ado, the snacks… a little tasting. This is the first of a series of posts to cover the evening.

Chocolate Almond Grapes | Sweet Freedom Dinner

We recently put on a Sweet Freedom dinner here in Atlanta (more on that later) and one of the snacks served was Chocolate. Almond. Grapes!! Yes, they are as delicious as they sound…and just may be my new favorite fruit! Antioxidants from the chocolate, protein from the nuts… what’s not to love?!? Okay that’s a stretch, but give ‘em a try!!

CHOCOLATE ALMOND GRAPES by Chef Jason Jimenez

INGREDIENTS
+ 1 lb Seedless Black or Red Grapes (rinsed and dried well)
+ 4 oz 60% Semi-Sweet Fair Trade Chocolate
+ 8 oz Shaved Almonds Toasted and Crushed

Chocolate Almond Grapes | Sweet Freedom Dinner

DIRECTIONS
1. Toast almonds in a 300° F oven for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.
2. Remove and let cool on tray. After they have cooled crush with hand.
3. Melt chocolate in double boiler.
4. Slowly add chocolate to grapes using a spatula until chocolate is evenly coated on grapes.
5. Roll chocolate coated grapes in crushed almonds until evenly coated.
6. Set on wax paper and place in refrigerator until chocolate becomes hardened.

The NotWedding | Here Comes the Sun

The NotWedding is next Thursday, March 8 at Ambient + Studios in Atlanta. Doors open at 5:45 and the ceremony starts promptly at 6:30 pm. Tickets are limited and include parking, dinner, drinks, dessert and a night full of inspiration and surprises.

I found this damaged cardigan for $1 months ago. I fell in love with the color and the militant vibe…with gold and sequins nonetheless. I purchased it with the intention of fixing the trim, but it sat in my closet unattended to. I decided to simply knot the trim and let it hang…gives the sweater more character anyway. ;)

Having thrown a bridal shower or two in my day, my favorite party favor was mini bags of coffee beans or tea sachet. I’d create a cute little tag with the witty line “The Perfect Blend” and secretly call myself a genius. Okay, genius is a stretch. However, I love the phrase and idea of gifting caffeine!

In my Etsy shop you will find sets of hand-stamped mini tags (in metallic gold!). If you’re interested in larger quantities or a custom design, do not hesitate to ask.

Now we can blame wedding jitters on the coffee! ;)

Wedding Day Hooray 2012

This past weekend I participated in my first craft/wedding fair, Wedding Day Hooray. What a great time meeting local vendors and Atlanta brides! It was also the perfect motivation to create a few new products (they will be available in the shop later this week). Here’s a glimpse of the booth shared with the fabulous Fine and Fleurie. Be sure to check out her beautiful bridal accessories. I may have tried on one of her veils…I just couldn’t resist! Haha!

I also have to give a shout out to Four Inch Fold Vintage Rentals. They supplied the wire fixtures for the booth. Go look at their inventory, you’ll drool!!

Last summer I designed this invitation suite for an untraditional rustic wedding. The couple was getting married outside and incorporating many natural elements. For the design I took the same route, but a more graphic approach with the woodgrain and branch elements. Yes, they “put a bird on it”…. in fact two birds. Each bird reflected a sentiment for the bride and groom. On one bird we use a scanned excerpt from a cherished book of Taira’s and the sheet music from a favorite song of Peter’s on the other bird… so personal, I loved it!

Everything came together beautifully, including the Rehearsal Dinner Postcard. It was complete will a mini envelope filled with kraft confetti and two information cards. On the wedding day, I also designed all the print materials… food labels, ceremony program, table numbers, favor tag, escort cards, etc.

Taira and Peter’s eye for wedding colors and desire to be off-beat made for one-of-a-kind stationery (and a fun experience!).

Hello Sweeties! Yes, it’s Valentine’s Day… and you know what that means… a winner for the stationery giveaway!
