Vineyard Program

Janine got married yesterday, so now I can share the programs and menus I did for her. She took the two pages and made fans for her outdoor wedding. I love how bright the colors are. You can see I incorporated some of the design elements from her invitations. The reception had an “Around the World” menu, hence the passport menus…so fun!!

Room

I’ve mentioned before that I live and work in one room… it’s my bedroom/studio. Here’s a peek at where the magic happens. And by magic I mean lots of coffee consumption, beautiful music playing and me sitting at my computer.

DIY | Pillowcase Dress

DIY | Pillowcase Dress

Oh the pillowcase dress! There are so many darling pillowcases floating around out there and in need of a little TLC.

My sister, Sam, was visiting this weekend (she’s been traveling across the country for the past month on her honeymoon-what an adventure!!) and we got our craft on and made some dresses. Making pillowcase dresses was a favorite in Oz (miss you ladies!!!).

MATERIALS

Pillowcase////Needle & Thread or Sewing Machine////Elastic, string, lace, etc

WORDS TO THE WISE

-Many pillowcases are sheer, so I double line with another solid color.

-If you’re at all curvy, I would advise against a twin sized pillowcase. It can get a little snug in there, just a friendly FYI. ha. Anyway….

DIY | Pillowcase Dress

STEP ONE Use a seam ripper or scissors to cut the “top” of the pillowcase and trim to the desired length. The “bottom” is the already hemmed opening and the “top” is wear your head will be.

There are endless options for the dress style. With this yellow pillowcase I made it strapless, but with straps you’d follow similar steps. (more…)

FOUND//1920s & 1930s Scrapbook

Last summer I was thrifting while vacationing in historic Williamsburg, Virginia. Five scrapbooks had been dropped off and I noticed the cashier flipping through them. I instantly knew these were a priceless treasure.

She actually refused to sell them to me without talking to her manager and insisted that they are “a part of history.” I was persistent and called the DAV (thrift store) a couple times and went back the next day to get them. I was stoked to have them in my possession!!

I do wonder how much they are worth…. if you have any idea, I’d be curious to know.

Home Sweet Home

I’ve been in the process of setting up my “studio meets bedroom.” I’m the kind of person that will stay up all night for week to get settled, but I’ve had other projects keepin me busy. I have made progress though… I mean I’m no longer sleeping on the floor… I got a cute futon couch this week.

I’ll be posting some of the little details and projects as I complete them, so stay tuned. I got all the thread from an estate sale here in Tucson, the clock at Savers (thrift store), my vintage luggage collection (made the trek from DC) and one of the chairs I am refinishing.

Right now on the “must do soon list” are:

-Paint Desk/Work Table

-Paint & Reupholster chairs

-Sew Pillows

-Hang Shelves

Vineyard Wedding Suite

Do you ever talk to someone once and know that you could be instant friends?!? Well, when I first chatted with Janine about her wedding invitations I knew we’d get along great. She’s getting married at a winery in San Martin, California and wanted to have fun invitations yet maintain a strong formal tone.

Her wedding already had many vintage elements and fun colors. We brought in the vines and used the colors and swirls to make this suite a little funky, while keeping an overall traditional look.

Garden Affair Wedding Invitations

Garden Affair Wedding Invitations

You may remember the Save the Dates I designed several months ago, well here is the romantic and enchanting invitation. This was my first time working with a thermographer and the final results fit the formality of this wedding! If you’re not familiar, thermography is a raised printing and an alternative to letterpress or embossing. The bride wanted lots of texture and this suite is rich with patterns and dimension and complete with custom stamps.

Eclectic Wedding Extras
Here’s a peek at some of the “extras” I designed for Brittany Brown‘s eclectic ceremony and reception. I was in the wedding so I never got pics of everything set up in all it’s glory, but you can get an idea. Above are the ceremony programs.

The groom and his guys made the homemade salsa.. it’s Matt‘s specialty! Nice and spicy!

Eclectic Wedding Extras

The escort cards were displayed in vintage drawers and organized alphabetically. I had three tent designs for the cards and the flower was a cut out, though it was too windy to capture. Just imagine. :)

Jean Cutoff DIY

Jean Cutoff DIY

I was never was a “shorts girl” and often avoided them at all costs. I kept to my sundresses and I was a happy gal. Well, last year I took to shorts and they became my staple while “down under.” I have always been a fan of distressing my jeans… in college I was so particular and would spend hours with a seam ripper and safety pin removing thread by thread. Now, I take a more liberal approach…it’s whatev! ha!

Anyway, here’s a quick little tutorial to make your own distressed cutoffs.

Materials

  • Old Pair of Jeans
  • Pen/Marking Tool
  • Scissors
  • Exacto Knife

Love Bird Bridal Shower
I got a little busy and just realized I owe everyone the second DIY tutorial from the Lovebird Bridal Shower. This project is soooo limitless! You can create silhouettes of ANYTHING and can select something that will match your particular style. Just think…letters, words, pretty flowers, etc.

This project requires bit more prep work that the Fabric Flower Collage DIY. Just have a little crafternoon and make them both! :)

Materials

  • Glue Gun
  • Adhesive Spray
  • Scrap Fabric
  • Photo Frames (glass not needed)
  • Cardstock or thin Cardboard
  • Scissors

STEP ONE: Select the image you want to create into a silhouette.  For this project I used the lovebirds from the Thank You cards. I originally got the image from a vintage “Twelve Days of Christmas” book. Yep, those are in fact “Two Turtledoves.”

Evelyn Wedding Invitation Suite

There are some new ladies in town! I’d like to introduce the latest and greatest from Julia’s Poppies…The Classy Ladies Collection. Each wedding suite is named after some of my favorite “old lady names.” In case you didn’t know I have a love, actually a passion for all things vintage and that includes names. There’s just something about other eras that makes me curious and intrigued (and obsessed).

The Classy Ladies Collection is available on etsy and available for custom coloring and add-ons such as, address labels, custom stamps, reception packages, etc. For a closer look and pricing, visit Julia’s Poppies on etsy. More “ladies” will be popping up in the next couple days, but now let’s move onto to some formal introductions…. (more…)

Eclectic Vintage Wedding Invitation Suite

Eclectic Vintage Wedding Invitation Suite

Working on this wedding suite for Brittany Gelatt was a blast! With complete creative freedom and a fun color palette I was challenged to give guests a glimpse of what is to come at the nuptials. You may remember the Save the Date I designed for Brittany + Matt. I wanted to carry over the same feel- I was able to incorporate the lace strip from the back of the Save the Date onto the invitation wrap address labels.

I am def a “presentation/details girl” and wanted this invitation to be anything but ordinary from the moment it was taken out of the mailbox. I knew I was going to use a clear packing envelope as I have seen them for both commercial and personal mailings. I also wanted “pretty” stamps. I found some great cactus stamps on ebay and mixed them with the current 1¢ and 4¢ stamps for a more artsy feel. (Again, sorry Matt for the old-school stamps. I think he had the glue taste in his mouth for a few days after assembly.) (more…)

Love Bird Bridal Shower

Love Bird Bridal Shower

Love Bird Bridal Shower

Nothing like a couple lovebirds to celebrate a marriage. It’s an easy eclectic look for any event… especially on a tight budget. Most of the decor items are or thrifted or handmade (DIY tutorials coming later this week), though I got the ceramic birds on clearance at Michael’s. And yes, you can see the yarn daisies made from a flower loom I mentioned in my “Flower Power” post. I also designed custom thank you card stationery for the bride, a matching layout for the CD Mix favor and of course, cupcake toppers. Be sure to check out all the pics! (more…)

Lynchburg Visit
[A few of the Wyckoff ladies... Michelle, Sam & Moi]

Earlier this week I took a roadtrip down to Lynchburg, Virginia to visit my little sis… we brainstormed her upcoming wedding and did some vintage shopping. Downtown Lynchburg has some great spots… lots of these pics are from an estate auction house. It’s filled with ALL kinds of second hand finds! I got some items for Peacock Manor (my Etsy shop).
