THINGS ARE NOT ALWAYS AS THE APPEAR

I think we all need this little reminder from time to time…

Don’t you love this camper on the river?!? When I saw it, I wanted to live there…surrounded by the most breath-taking views.

The photo is from my trip to New Zealand a couple of years ago. I never went through the photos and this year one of my goals is to just that. As a little discipline and inspiration, I’m posting images from that adventure.

Happy Monday!

Julianne Jade

I cannot believe it has almost been one year since my niece was born! Time flies I tell ya! We’re having a small little family gathering this weekend to celebrate. I took some photos of Julianne last week…she’s still cute as ever and her hair continues to GROW! I love the little french braid.

it's my birthday

I am pumped and ready for another year of life…new lessons to be learned and new adventures to be had. In attempts of exercising an attitude of gratitude, here are 28 reasons I have to be thankful, in no particular order.

1// Quiet Mornings and hot coffee. Oh baby, oh baby!
2// My supportive and loving parents, and the example they have been over the years.
3// The Lord’s provision and the HOPE I have in Him.
4// Cheese. All kinds of cheese!
5// Snail mail from a friend. Ahhh… written words, a lost art.
6// My car. Miraculously it continues to keep running.
7// Lyrics that make you stop in your tracks.
8// Veggies. Spinach and carrots will always be number one on my grocery list!
9// Wedding engagements everywhere…because that means business. :)
10// Red Lipstick. I may get it on my teeth from time to time, but it’s still sexy. ha!
11// My sisters and brother…can’t break this bond. We are bffs!
12// Impromptu dance parties…in my room, by myself, in front of the mirror.
13// Long runs that heal the soul…and burn my legs. No greater feeling.
14// Technology’s ability to instantly connect, regardless of the miles between.
15// Five inch heels…and still being shorter than most.
16// The launch of Yours is the Earth and my oh-so-rad business partner!
17// My local church. I love how they value Truth, creativity, and serving the community.
18// Scissors. For all my ghetto “cut-and-wear” fashionista projects.
19// When music is so loud, it’s beating in your chest. Yep, love that!
20// Clients that trust me to do my thang.
21// My college girlfriends…ya’ll mean more to me that you’ll ever know!!
22// Cafe Intermezzo. Irish Cream Cheesecake- seriously you must try this!!
23// Weekly Podcasts. Some of my favs are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
24// Head scarfs that allow me not to comb my hair for months. This may change, I got 2 brushes for Christmas! haha
25// The endless supply of treasure at thrift stores.
26// Long chats with friends that inspire and challenge me to be a better artist and person.
27// My niece, Julianne. The cutest little goober ever!
28// The saving grace and message of Christ “which is painful and wonderful at once. The Gospel is—we are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared to believe, and at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.

Happy New Year

Like most, I get excited about new beginnings. Granted, we don’t need a specific date on the calendar to to this, but it sure helps me. Nothing like opening a blank planner and seeing the potential. Change, yep. That’s the my word for this year. So profound, I know. :) Wishing you all a wonderful [...]

Greetings! Wishing you a lovely holiday weekend with those you love! May it be full of lots of laughter, grateful hearts, yummy food, and comfy Christmas pajamas! #1 // Make sure to take lots of photos… last year we used the garage wall to draw a backdrop. Hopefully, this year we create something equally as cute. #2// [...]

monday tid-bits

Happy Monday! The week is in full force with the countdown to Christmas is the back of my mind. Here’s a little glimpse of my weekend… The Civil Wars are always sure to deliver and their show on Saturday was nothing short of what I have come to expect….amazing! It was also my first time [...]

winter looks from Aubin & Willis

The other day I came across the Aubin & Willis styling page. Each outfit has a mini video…which I thought was quite clever. I love all these classic winter looks… button ups, plaid and big sweater never get old. Here’s to cute and comfy in these chilly months.

Shop Local this Season

If you like to support local artists and have a fondness for the handmade, I’ve got just the shop for you. For the month of December, Criminal Records in Little Five Points is hosting an ICE Pop-Up shop. It’s the quite the combo… get a new record or two for yourself and shop for those [...]

a lil hope & faith

Just a encouraging reminder I heard yesterday. Keep on. keeping on. Have a lovely Monday!

thanksgiving 2011 recap

I spent last week in Virginia at my brother’s place. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays… the fall weather, the delicious food and the emphasis to be grateful. This year my grandpa was able to join us from Michigan. He hasn’t traveled much since his time in the service (which was in the 50′s). My contribution [...]

thankful // day 16

Seasons of “unknown” are fun to navigate, huh?!? haha. Well, at least we can look forward to what’s around that corner. That’s what keeps me going… the excitement of the new. I was walking past a mirror in the dark and my bow was sparkling, reflecting light from a distant lamp. Those glimmers in the dark- so [...]

thankful // day 15

I was irresponsible, but in a healthy way… if that can make sense. I had tasks to complete, but I got a last minute offer… a (free) ticket to see Need to Breathe at the Georgia Theatre in Athens. If you know me, I love music and going to shows. It’s a filler for me. This [...]

thankful // day 14

Trying new things can be scary. It’s all part of the fun of it. The only way to truly know if it’s going to work out is to TRY! Thankful for all the growth that comes with taking risks.

thankful // day 13

Life is messy, huh?! Thankfully I don’t have to manage it. Yes, be responsible… but releasing all that clutters my thoughts. Thankful for the ability and call to release control and trust. In His cross my trust shall be, Till, with clearer, brighter vision, Face to face my Lord I see! -Ascend the Hill

thankful // day 12

My sister and bro-in-law are in town for the weekend. Thankful to spend time with them! Excuse our crazy red-eyes!

thankful // day 11

So I get the privilege of collaborating with this cool girl. Funny thing is we have never met… we email, chat on the phone and text to get the job done. It’s neat to see how we both can bring something to the table and creative something neither one of us could have done on our own. [...]

thankful // day 10

I took a break from my crazy work-week and spent a couple hours roaming aisles of antiques and home decor… all while sipping wine and nibbling on treats. Thankful for holiday open houses and inspiration gathering with my sister. Next Thursday, November 17 is the holiday open house for the Queen of Hearts in Buford, GA . You [...]

thankful // day 9

Yes, my dear sister made me dinner… and delivered it to me at my desk. Toast and eggs with a glass of OJ. Now that’s service! Thanks sis!

thankful // day 8

I am sucker for the written word…a simple text or email can make my day, but a letter or card- I’m sure to squeal with delight. haha. A dear friend sent me this… it doesn’t make much sense, but it was still funny. Today I am thankful for my thoughtful friend and her kind words.

thankful // day 7

You should know by now I love used stuff. I love that it’s a form of recycling, and the challenge that comes with repurposing an item. For unique vintage or antique pieces I often romanticize who used the item and how. For example, if I get a plate I wonder if it was used for fine [...]
